December 1985 saw the beginnings of a career that remains unparalleled to this day. Linda Feller, then 19, released her first country song in what was the German Democratic Republic (GDR) – a cover version of Dolly Parton’s “Applejack.” The sales figures for the LP “Country Roads” (Amiga Records) went through the roof, and if the song hadn’t been imported from the “imperialist West,” Linda Feller would have been holding a gold record in her hands just a few weeks after her first country song was released.
In 1992 she was the first female singer to receive the Country Singer of the Year award. Seven more of these awards would follow in the years to come, making Linda Feller the artist to have received it more often than any other country singer in Germany. In 2005 and 2006, Linda Feller became the most successful country singer based on sales figures determined by Media Control, the official chart authority in Germany at the time.
Produced in 1998, the program “Country Herz – Einmal Nashville & zurück” (“Country Heart – To Nashville and Back”) has been repeated more than 33 times on German television – more often than any other country show. For this reason, Linda Feller was recognized with the Most Successful Country Show award in 1998 and 2001. The 2001 award was presented to her by Bernhard Vogel, Minister President of Thuringia.
But Linda Feller’s success goes far beyond the borders of Germany. In 1998 she was the first – and to this point, only – country singer from Germany to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, on official invitation.
Linda Feller has released a proud 38 studio albums. Number 39 is her Anniversary album which includes besides some new recordings highlights of her career as well as duets with musical companions.
