Tributes paid over the tragic loss of Country Icon Daryle Singletary
The Country Music world has come together to remember the legendary Daryle Singletary, who passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lebanon, Tennessee, on Monday.
Born in Cairo, Georgia, Daryle Singletary’s career spans three decades, with multiple top forty hits in the Hot Country Songs Charts, including «I Let Her Lie», «Too Much Fun», and «Amen Kind of Love».
Best known as a pure, traditional country artist, Daryle Singletary was once quoted saying; «Regardless of what may be hitting the charts in Nashville, there’ll always be an audience for good, traditional country music.» This dedication to old-school Country Music led Singletary to collaborate with the greats such as George Jones, Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakam.
Upon hearing the sad news, former business partner and friend of 21 years, Chuck Rhodes said:
«I cannot wrap my head around his untimely passing. He was the greatest country singer I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my 30 years in Nashville. I have truly lost the brother I never had today. May God bless his family and the country music community during this time of tremendous loss.»
In 2012, Singletary completed his first European tour, taking in the Country Rendez-Vous Festival in Craponne, France, followed by concerts in France, Denmark and Germany. Singletary released his final studio album, «There’s Still A Little Country Left» through AGR Television Records in Germany in 2015, which proved a huge international success on Country radio. The album featured co-writes with songwriting royalty, some of the best musicians in Nashville and a duet with Country Icon Johnny Paycheck.
Andreas Graban of AGR Television Records spoke of his shock upon hearing the news:
«For me personally, it’s very sad. What I remember most about Daryle is that he was a genuinely nice person…and that’s sometimes hard to find in this business. As a performer and a recording artist, he embodied the spirit of traditional country music, and this was reflected in the success we had with his ‘Still A Little Country Left’ album. On behalf of everybody at AGR Television Records, we’d like to send our sympathies to Daryle’s family and to his many fans around the world.»
Daryle Singletary leaves behind his beloved wife Holly along with two sons Jonah and Mercer and two daughters Nora and Charlotte, as well as his mother and father and brother Kevin. Further details of his funeral will be announced in due course.
