“Follow your heart and start as you mean to go on” …the wise words spoken by Johnny Flynn, Iann Brennan’s grandad. This inspired Iann Brennan to give up his safe full-time job and take the plunge to becoming a full-time songwriter and performer. Now after seven years of gigging all around Ireland, Iann Brennan has released his single “Game Over”. The track is taken from his debut-album entitled “Start as You Mean to Go On”.
“Start as You Mean to Go On” is an eclectic mix of heartfelt, melodic and anthemic songs which were written by Iann Brennan and performed by Iann and his band. “Start as You Mean to Go On” was recorded and produced by renowned Irish producer Ray Traynor.
Along the way Iann Brennan contacted original Aslan songwriter and bass player Tony McGuiness. McGuiness also wrote the hit song “If You See Kay” for Irish band The Script, and when Tony heard Iann’s songs, he wanted to play on the album bringing some magical, grooving bass lines.
At the final stage of making the album, Iann Brennan was fortunate and very appreciative to get U2’s renowned album designer Steve Averill to design Iann’s album cover, logo and artwork.
Damien Dempsey (Irish singer and songwriter): “Within Iann Brennan’s soaring anthemic melodies are lots of wise lines between the cracking hooks, if he’s playing near you do yourself a favour and try get to him, he’s the bomb!”
Tony McGuinness (bandmember Asland): “A pleasure to be part of Iann’s debut album. He just rocks it!”
