Kiera Dignam Releases Debut Album “Nepo Baby”
Kiera Dignam, daughter of the late Aslan frontman Christy Dignam releases her first full length album
The new release entitled “Nepo Baby” has been a long time in the making for Kiera, who has been on the road with her own band for more than fifteen years.
Kiera Dignam’s style is true to her musical roots, having been performing in some capacity since the age of thirteen, and draws on influences from Pop, Rock and Rhythm and Blues.
“Nepo Baby” is produced by singer/songwriter Don Mescall, who has previous writing credits for Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Cliff Richard and Geri Halliwell amongst others, as well as Kiera Dignam’s father Christy and Aslan. The album features eight original songs and two covers.
Co-producer on the release is American Tommy Harden, who has worked country singer Reba McEntire and songwriting legend Carole King.
Reflecting on the album “Nepo Baby”, Kiera Dignam said:
“I’ve been working towards this new album for a long time, but life always seemed to get in the way, but I think the stars finally aligned at the right moment, because we’ve come up with an amazing selection of songs, mostly written by Don Mescall along with a lot of high-profile songwriters in Ireland and abroad.”
“Needless to say, 2023 has been a difficult year, but through the grief process I found inspiration to push forward and finish my album, not only to honour my dad’s legacy but also come out of the shadows and show who I am as a musician. My dad got to hear the rough draft of the album before he passed. I know he’d be really proud seeing everything finally come together.”
